GAF ice & water stormguard eaves protection

Film-Surfaced Leak Barrier for Metal and Asphalt Shingle Roofs

Helps keep water and ice out of the most vulnerable areas of your asphalt shingle or metal roof.

Fiberglass reinforcement helps resist wrinkling and buckling for a more uniform look.

High-temperature compound designed for use with asphalt shingle and most metal roof systems.

By creating a barrier at the most vulnerable areas of your shingle or metal roof (at the eaves and rakes, in valleys, around chimneys, etc.), StormGuard® Film-Surfaced Leak Barrier will help prevent leaks due to water backing up in your gutters, wind-driven rain, and, in the North, damaging ice dams. It will also help protect your home from expensive wall and ceiling staining from leaks. StormGuard® Film-Surfaced Leak Barrier is a key part of the GAF Lifetime Roofing System and has earned the Good Housekeeping Seal5 (U.S. only). It is eligible for a Lifetime ltd. warranty when used on Lifetime Shingle roofs,2 a 25-year ltd. warranty when used on non-Lifetime Shingle roofs,2 and a 10-year ltd. warranty3 when used with other approved non-asphaltic roofing systems.1

  • Code Compliance and Risk Reduction:  Protection against ice dams is required by most building codes4 at eaves wherever the January average temperature is 25°F (-4°C) or lower or where there is a possibility of ice forming in the eaves — i.e., the area labeled “North”. † Also, in some jurisdictions, full-deck coverage of leak barrier is required.4

  • Great Look:  Fiberglass reinforcement helps resist wrinkling and buckling.
  • Dependable:  Self-seals around nails or metal roofing fasteners to help avoid leaks.
  • Saves Labor:  Split-back release film peels off in layers for fast installation.
  • Convenient:  2.0 square (200 ft.2 [18.58 m2]) roll size.
  • Versatile:  High-temperature compound is perfect for use under asphalt shingles and most metal roofing systems.1

Synthetic underlayment

FeltBuster® High-Traction Synthetic Roofing Felt

Quality roofing underlayment is critical for helping to prevent wind-driven rain from infiltrating under the roof’s shingles and potentially damaging the home’s structure and interior. Traditional asphalt felt underlayments can tear easily and absorb moisture, leading to wrinkling that “telegraphs” through the shingles. Competitive priced with typical asphalt felts (pricing varies by market), GAF’s FeltBuster® High-Traction Synthetic Roofing Felt:

  • Includes a specially designed surface for enhanced walkability and a cooler working surface (vs. typical black felts)
  • Resists tearing on the roof
  • Avoids wrinkling that can “telegraph” through the shingles, detracting from the finished look of the roof
  • Will not absorb moisture, become brittle, or leach oils

Homeowner's Quality Choice

  • Durable Construction… Non-asphaltic, polypropylene construction for long-lasting performance (unlike conventional felts that can disintegrate over time)

  • A Better-Looking Roof… Lies flatter than typical felts and avoids “telegraphing” of wrinkles, which can detract from the look of your new roof

  • Peace of Mind… Part of the GAF Lifetime Roofing System and covered by up to a Lifetime ltd. warranty when installed on Lifetime Shingle roofs*

Professional's Quality Choice

  • Enhanced Walkability… Special spunbound surface helps provide increased traction vs. traditional asphalt felts

  • Competitively Priced… Per square with typical asphalt felts (pricing varies by market)

  • Tough Synthetic Construction… Resists tearing underfoot and in high winds

  • Easier to Work With… Super-lightweight, 10 square, 48" (1.23 m) wide roll (vs. typical 36" [914 mm] wide felt rolls)

  • Cooler to Work On… Medium-gray surface is up to 30 degrees cooler than typical black asphalt felts**

* See GAF Shingle & Accessory Ltd. Warranty for complete coverage and restrictions. The word “Lifetime” means as long as the original individual owner(s) of a single-family detached residence [or the second owner(s) in certain circumstances] owns the property where the shingles and accessories are installed. For owners/structures not meeting the above criteria, Lifetime coverage is not applicable. Lifetime ltd. warranty on accessories requires the use of at least three qualifying GAF accessories and the use of Lifetime Shingles.

* * Based on GAF testing with underlayments installed on plywood deck at 90°F (32.2°C) ambient temperature and left exposed to direct sunlight.

* * * NOTE: 90-day UV resistance refers to standardized testing conducted by GAF to ensure the product will not physically degrade when exposed to UV. It is NOT related to withstanding water, snow, or wind. While FeltBuster® High-Traction Synthetic Roofing Felt is water resistant, it is NOT WATERPROOF. DO NOT USE FeltBuster® High-Traction Synthetic Roofing Felt as a temporary roof to protect property or possessions.
